Futuring Blog Post

I definitely feel that my role as a future educator will change. My biggest fear as a future educator is the idea of business and the administration will start to decrease their need for teachers. It’s interesting that so many virtual schools are being are forming and many are considered charter schools. I see my role as having robots as teacher’s aids. I say this because many companies cut their employees because robots can do the job faster and it’s cost effective. We will conduct class virtually and interactively engage with visual, tactile and auditory elements of the virtual world. Students will be able to interact with a touch screen that fall down directly in front of the desk when they prompt it to, so they can engage in the class discussion. I would have to become adapted to the most current technology. Students will have access to information at a touch of a screen. I don’t think their would be much room for error on the teachers part. My role as the teacher would change drastically would see myself like Will Smith in I-Robot still having old technology as a means of back-up. It’s a scary thing that society has become so addicted to technology. Technology can be monitored or hacked into by any computer savvy person. I would have a switch on my desk that has the technology that I learned with as a child. I love technology……..but not at the means of my job!

DREAMTIME BLOG#3

SMART Board 660 interactive whiteboard

I would definitely need this resource in my class because it has so many technical resources that can be utilized to engage the students in each lesson. Since this is a technological world it is needed to stimulate and motivate students. Students are constantly engaging in technology outside the school walls so it is imperative to have current technology. The smart board caters to all learning style such as tactile, auditory, and visual.

Printer

I would want a printer in the classroom to print out a letter that needs to be sent to a few students in class. It is much simpler than using the staff room computer because they are often occupied.

Portable Writing devices/ Voice recognition

I would use this to help students with special needs. It will assist/accommodate physically challenge students as well. In a regular Ed class you may have students who have a writing disability, physical, or hearing disability so as a teacher it is my job to make the learning experience accommodating to the student.
Speech recognition or voice recognition programs
Screen Readers
Alternative keyboards

Projector

I love technology but I am a person that believes in backup. This old technology can still do the task that needs to be performed in everyday classrooms. I will also need headphones, and my personal computer to do task and lesson plans. I will need a set of classroom computer for research or learning activities to be conducted in class. The library is great but often time there are many events going on at the library.
